The evening every city break needs
A few days in Amsterdam are hard on the body in ways that creep up on you. There are the cobbles and the steep canal-house staircases, the hours on your feet in museum galleries, the hired bikes with saddles set for someone else, and the long loops around the ring after dark because every bridge looks worth crossing. By the second or third evening, calves are tight, shoulders have carried a day bag for miles, and both of you are a little too tired for another restaurant. That is the evening to book. Instead of going out, you stay in, and the city sends the massage to you. Two therapists work on the two of you at the same time, and the trip gets the pause it did not realise it was missing.
