Your first couples massage in Amsterdam: a guide for two beginners

Neither of you has done this before, and that is completely normal. This guide walks the two of you through a first couples massage, from the chat you have beforehand to the moment the door closes behind the therapists.

A first couples massage in Amsterdam tends to raise more questions than a first massage on your own, simply because there are two sets of nerves in the room and each of you is quietly wondering about the other. Will it feel odd to be massaged next to your partner? What do you wear, where do you look, are you supposed to talk? Do the two of you need to want the same thing? Every one of those questions has a plain answer, and none of them has to be solved on the night. This guide is written for two beginners, and it follows the evening in the order it actually happens.

Three things to agree before anyone writes

Most of what makes a first booking go smoothly is a short conversation between the two of you, ideally before either of you picks up a phone. It does not need to be serious. Five minutes on the sofa is plenty.

The format. The usual arrangement is two therapists at once, one for each of you, working side by side to the same schedule. The alternative is a single therapist who works on one of you and then the other. For a first time the side-by-side version is normally easier, because neither of you spends an hour as the spectator, and being watched is often the part beginners find hardest to relax into. The couples massage service page describes that format in more detail.

The length. One hour gives each of you a complete session and makes a gentle introduction. Two hours are more deeply relaxing, but they ask a lot of someone who has never lain still under unfamiliar hands for that long. If either of you hesitates, start with the hour. A longer evening can always be the plan for your next trip.

The kind of touch. Talk honestly about what each of you is hoping for. Perhaps one wants a straightforward relaxing oil massage and the other is curious about something slower and more sensual. That is absolutely fine. You do not have to choose the same session, because each therapist works to the person in front of her rather than to a shared script. What helps is saying your preferences out loud to each other first, so that nobody is caught off guard by the other's choice once the message has gone.

Writing the booking message

Only one of you needs to write, on WhatsApp or Telegram. Include the hour you would like to start, the area you are staying in, the length, whether you want a therapist each, and one extra line: that this is your first couples massage. That last detail is genuinely useful. It does not change the price at all; it changes who we send, because some therapists are especially good at putting nervous beginners at ease and explaining each step without it sounding like a lecture.

If you enjoy choosing, the therapist roster lets you pick both women yourselves, pick one and leave her partner to us, or leave both names to us entirely. For a first booking the third route is often the wisest. A sentence about each of you, such as which of you is the more anxious or who prefers firmer pressure, gives us more to work with than two photographs chosen in a hurry.

We reply in about ten minutes with both names, the start time and the total. Once you confirm, the two therapists travel to you together and reach central addresses twenty to thirty minutes later. Send your room number or buzzer name while they are on the way. The booking page sets out the whole message format if you would like a template to copy.

Your first couples massage in Amsterdam, minute by minute

The arrival. A knock, two friendly faces, a few minutes of easy conversation. The therapists will ask where you would like them to set up and whether either of you has any injuries, sore spots or areas you would rather they avoided. Payment is settled at this point, once, for both of them, whether by card, crypto or cash in any major currency. After that, money does not come up again.

The setup. While you finish any last preparations, the pair lay fresh linen over the bed or beds, warm the oil, adjust the lighting and arrange towels where they can reach them. It takes a few minutes, and it is oddly calming to watch the room change from a hotel room into somewhere quieter.

Getting comfortable. The therapists step out of the way or turn aside while you undress to whatever level you are comfortable with and lie face down under a towel. Then they begin, usually with long, slow strokes across the back that tell your body it can stop bracing.

The first ten minutes. This is the stretch where beginners tend to peek across at each other, or fight the urge to make a joke. Let it happen. Most couples find that somewhere around the ten-minute mark the glances stop and breathing slows, and from then on the hour takes care of itself.

Turning over. Partway through, you will be asked to turn onto your back. The therapist holds the towel so you stay covered, and the work continues on the front of the legs, the arms, the shoulders and the scalp.

The ending. The pair time their work against each other, so the two of you come to the end within a minute or so of one another. They finish slowly, leave you lying down, pack their things quietly and let themselves out. You do not need to get up to see them off.

What to wear, and the towel question

This is the question beginners are most shy to ask, so here is the answer without fuss. Undress to the level that feels right for you. Keeping underwear on is perfectly normal and nobody will remark on it. Therapists work with towels as a matter of routine, uncovering only the area they are massaging and covering it again when they move on. If you are booking a more sensual kind of session, talk about comfort and boundaries with the therapist when she arrives; she will follow your lead rather than the other way round.

A few small things help. Take off rings, watches and necklaces before the therapists arrive, and put them somewhere you will remember. Tie long hair back if you do not want oil in it. Have a shower each beforehand, not because anyone expects it but because warm skin relaxes faster. And keep a comfortable layer nearby for afterwards, because you will cool down more quickly than you expect once the session ends.

Talking, silence and the urge to check on each other

There is no etiquette to learn. You can talk quietly to each other, to your therapists or not at all. Many couples chat for the first few minutes and then drift into silence without deciding to. Reaching across to hold hands is welcome if the setup allows it. Laughing is fine. So is falling asleep; therapists are used to it and simply carry on more gently.

The one habit worth letting go of is monitoring your partner. Beginners sometimes spend the hour listening for whether the other one is enjoying it, which means neither of them fully does. Trust that your partner will speak up if something is not right, and give your attention to your own half of the room.

Speaking up during the session

If the pressure is too firm or too light, if you feel cold, if a particular spot is tender, say so straight away. A single word is enough. Therapists would far rather adjust in the first minute than discover at the end that you spent the hour enduring something. The same applies if you would like to change what is happening, slow things down or stop altogether. None of that is rude, and none of it spoils anything for your partner, who is having a separate session with a separate therapist a few feet away.

This matters especially for couples, because each of you may be tempted to stay quiet so as not to disturb the other. Please do not. A brief, calm request is part of a good massage, not an interruption to one.

What a first booking costs

Two therapists working side by side cost EUR 360 an hour, which is two individual sessions of EUR 180 running at the same time. A two-hour first booking comes to EUR 720. If you choose a single therapist and take turns, the rate is EUR 180 an hour, so an hour each works out at EUR 360 spread across two hours. An eight-hour overnight with one therapist is EUR 1,250, though that is rarely where beginners start. There is no deposit and no surcharge for evenings or weekends, and the confirmation you receive shows the exact figure you will pay. The prices page sets out the full ladder.

After the therapists leave

Give yourselves a slow quarter of an hour before doing anything at all. Drink some water. Stay under a blanket for a while. There is no need to rush into the shower; most oils absorb into the skin within half an hour. Then, when you feel like talking, compare notes. Which moments did each of you enjoy most, what would you change, would you choose the same length again? Couples who have that short conversation usually book a far better second session, because by then they know exactly what to ask for. And for a first evening, simply realising that the two of you are already in your own room, with nowhere to go, is often the part that stays with you longest.

03 Frequently asked

Questions couples send us about this.

Answered briefly here. Anything else, put it to us on the thread; someone reads it at every hour.

The wider FAQ

Is it strange to be massaged right next to my partner for the first time?

Most beginners expect it to feel awkward and find that the feeling fades within about ten minutes. Having a therapist each means neither of you is being watched while the other waits, and once the slow strokes begin, most couples simply relax side by side.

Do we both need to book the same type of massage?

No. Each therapist works to the person in front of her, so one of you can have a relaxing oil massage while the other chooses something slower or more sensual. Mention both preferences in your first message and each session is shaped separately.

What should we wear for our first couples massage?

Whatever you are comfortable with. Keeping underwear on is completely normal, and therapists use towels throughout so that only the area being massaged is uncovered. Remove jewellery beforehand and keep a warm layer nearby for afterwards.

How long should a first couples massage last?

One hour is the usual starting point, giving each of you a full session at EUR 360 for two therapists. Two hours at EUR 720 is more deeply relaxing, but for two beginners the shorter booking is often the easier introduction.

Should we tell you it is our first time?

Yes, please. It changes nothing about the price, but it helps us send therapists who are especially good at explaining each step calmly and putting first-timers at ease from the moment they knock.

How quickly can a first couples booking be arranged in Amsterdam?

We reply in about ten minutes with both therapists named and the total, and in central Amsterdam they arrive twenty to thirty minutes after you confirm. Payment is taken once on arrival, by cash, card or crypto.
