Nearly every booking the two of you make is confirmed by half its fee, first bookings and two-therapist visits included, and cancelling does not return it. Paid wholly at the door: a known client's hour or two with one therapist, today.
Picture four couples writing to the office in the same week. The first is marking an anniversary with two therapists for two hours, priced at EUR 720: EUR 360 is settled when the office accepts, and EUR 360 is handed over once both therapists are in the room. The second, halfway through a long city break, stretches that pair to three hours: EUR 1,080, with EUR 540 sent first and EUR 540 kept for arrival. The third wants one therapist for the whole night, eight hours at EUR 1,250, which means EUR 625 before she sets out and EUR 625 when she knocks. The fourth has never written to the house before and asks for ninety minutes this evening: EUR 270, of which EUR 135 goes ahead.
All four couples are doing one piece of arithmetic, halving what the price ladder shows. The share is fixed at fifty percent. It is not a range, and asking twice will not soften it. The office writes the exact amount into the WhatsApp thread in the same message that accepts the booking, and nobody leaves for your address until that amount has cleared. Whatever is left over is the balance, which the two of you pay on arrival with card, crypto, or cash in whatever major currency you carry, counted at the rate of the day.
Couples tend to settle this question between themselves before they ever ask the office, so here it is in the form it usually takes.
One of you: we reserved through a messaging app, so surely we have fourteen days to back out, the way we would with anything ordered online.
The other: normally, yes. Dutch distance-selling law, known as the Wet Koop op Afstand and the Dutch version of the EU Consumer Rights Directive, lets a consumer who pays for a service remotely pull out within fourteen days.
One of you: then what takes our booking out of it?
The other: the date-specific-service exemption, inside that very law. Article 6:230p of the Burgerlijk Wetboek, the Dutch Civil Code, excludes services performed on a specific fixed date or within a fixed time window. Ours has a named day and a named hour attached, so it falls inside that exemption.
One of you: so we gave the fourteen days away when we confirmed?
The other: no, nothing was given away. For a booking pinned to a date, the right simply does not arise. What decides a cancellation is the house policy set out here, read together with the general terms.

Four methods carry the half: card, Revolut, Wise and cryptocurrency, all of which clear electronically well ahead of any journey. Bank transfer is not one of the four, and PayPal will not be accepted either. Cash cannot serve as a deposit because it only reaches the house together with the therapist; cash is one of the ways to pay the balance, alongside card and crypto. The payment details reach you in one place, the WhatsApp thread, and only after the office has confirmed your booking there. Exactly one arrangement skips the deposit and is paid in full on arrival. It needs three things at once: a massage session lasting one hour or two, wanted for today, and a client already known to the house from an earlier visit. Read it as an exception; the deposit is how this house normally works. For couples the detail that matters is the headcount. Ask for a second therapist and the evening becomes a two-therapist booking, which sends half ahead no matter how often you have booked. Lengthen the same visit to three hours, move it to tomorrow, or land it on a peak date, and the half applies again. When the exception does fit, the thread confirms in about ten minutes and she is at any central address within forty to sixty minutes.
Say the two of you cancel a week before the date, or a month before. The deposit is kept in both cases. The house runs no refund schedule, no 24-hour window and no percentage returned for early notice, so a cancellation sent in good time is treated exactly like one sent late.
The cost is incurred at acceptance, not on the evening itself. Once the office says yes it confirms the therapists, and a couples booking usually closes two diaries rather than one. Anyone else asking for those hours is told no and books somewhere else. Travel and coordination are arranged, well in advance for an overnight or an airport hotel. By the time a cancellation arrives all of that has already been spent, and none of it unwinds. The half pays for that work; it was never meant as a penalty.
Force majeure is kept deliberately narrow and covers two things only: a government ban on operations, or a serious illness that rules the service out. The office weighs each case on its own. Where one is accepted, the half is converted into credit you can use on a future booking, and it is never paid out as cash. Everything else counts as a cancellation: a clash in either partner's calendar, a meeting that overran, a minor indisposition, a flight that moved, or the pair of you changing your minds.
Occasionally a booking is accepted with nothing paid first, because the client is returning or because a therapist was already travelling when the request came in. Cancelling it costs the house exactly what a deposit booking costs, so the office asks for a cancellation-collateral payment matching the half it would otherwise have needed. It is one rule throughout; only the timing moves, with the money collected afterwards rather than beforehand.
A session the two of you cut short brings no refund, neither the whole price nor any fraction of it. The time was held for you both and cannot be offered to another client at that hour. A therapist whose safety or consent is compromised can end the session immediately, with nothing refunded. That is said once here and covers every booking.
Invented names, contact details belonging to someone else, prank reservations, and no-shows by people with no plan to open the door are not cancellations. They are false bookings. The house keeps a record, shares the identifiers with other reputable Amsterdam houses so that their therapists know the name, and, where appropriate, passes it to the relevant authorities.
A genuine pair who book under their own name and answer the knock will never be touched by any of it. The rule protects forty-five women who arrive alone, often late at night, at hotels they have never entered, sometimes two of them together for a booking like yours, relying on a handful of messages.
