Four Hands Massage in a Small Hotel Room: Making Space

Many Amsterdam rooms are narrow, sloped or packed with furniture. How two therapists work around one guest in a small room, and what you can do to help.

A four hands massage in a small hotel room is not only possible, it is the normal case in Amsterdam. The old centre is full of narrow canal houses turned into hotels, where rooms are long and thin, ceilings slope under the roof, and the bed takes up most of the floor. Rental apartments add sofa beds and mezzanines. Guests often worry that two therapists will not fit. In practice they almost always do.

What a four hands massage needs in a small hotel room

The requirement is simpler than for a couples booking. With four hands, only one person lies down, and both therapists work around that one surface. So the room needs one bed that can be reached from both long sides, with enough floor beside it for a therapist to stand and move from the head to the foot. That is roughly the width of a person on each side. Nothing else is essential.

The common small-room layouts

Bed against a wall. This is a frequent problem in canal-house rooms. If the bed can be pulled out from the wall by half a metre, the pair can work from both sides. If it cannot be moved, tell us; the therapists adapt, with one working from the open side and the foot while the other moves around the head.

Sloping ceiling. Rooms under the roof often have a bed tucked into the low side. The therapists need standing height on at least one side and room to kneel on the other. A description of the slope in your message helps them plan.

Furniture everywhere. Armchairs, desks, luggage racks and side tables can almost always be moved against a wall or into the bathroom doorway for an hour. The pair can do this themselves when they arrive if you prefer not to.

Sofa bed or mezzanine. A sofa bed opened out flat works well. A mezzanine bed with a low ceiling above it does not, and the fix is usually to use the sofa bed or the floor downstairs with a thick cover. Say which you have when you write.

Five minutes of preparation

Clear the floor on both long sides of the bed. Put suitcases under the desk or in the bathroom. Move anything breakable off bedside tables. Turn the heating up a little, because small rooms warm quickly but also cool quickly with a window open. Lower the lights. The guide to room setup for two therapists has more detail for couples bookings, and most of it applies here too.

Rooms that really do not work

Very occasionally a space is too tight: a tiny studio where the bed fills the whole floor from wall to wall, or a boat cabin with a bunk. If your description suggests that, we say so before you confirm, and suggest either a different surface in the same place or a different evening. We would rather tell you honestly than send a pair who cannot work properly.

Does a small room change the price?

No. Four hands for one guest is EUR 360 for an hour and EUR 540 for ninety minutes on the single-client, two-therapist row, whatever the size of the room. Half is paid ahead by card, Revolut, Wise or crypto because the booking uses two therapists, and that deposit is not refunded if you cancel. The rates table is on every therapist profile.

Couples in a small room

If you are travelling as a pair and the other partner stays in the room during a four-hand session, a small space needs a little extra thought. The partner not receiving should settle somewhere out of the path of the therapists, a chair by the window or the bathroom doorway rather than the end of the bed. In very tight rooms, some partners prefer to go for a walk or a drink downstairs and come back when the session is closing. A booking with a therapist each needs more floor than four hands, so in very small rooms four hands is often the easier of the two formats to host.

What to say in the message

Along with the time, length and area, add one line about the room: canal-house single under the roof, bed against the wall, or small rental with a sofa bed. That line is the difference between a pair who arrive with a plan and a pair who spend the first ten minutes moving furniture. Anyone booking must be at least 21 years old.

03 Carry on

Shorter notes, longer guides, and the evening itself.

These notes answer one question at a time. When the two of you want the whole picture in one sitting, the guides take it slowly; when you have already decided, the landing pages open straight onto a booking.
