A couples massage on your first trip without the kids is a very personal booking for the parents who make it in Amsterdam, and an easy one for us to understand. After years of school runs, broken nights and holidays planned around naps, two parents finally leave the children with grandparents and fly away for a long weekend. The first evening often feels strange. There is no bedtime to manage, no one to check on, and a lot of quiet. Many couples tell us they did not know what to do with it.
Why a couples massage on your first trip without the kids fits
Parents are often more tired than they realise until they stop. A session where both of you lie down at the same time, side by side, with a therapist each, gives you something to do with the quiet that is not another activity to plan. A couples massage also removes the familiar parental habit of taking turns: nobody is on duty while the other rests.
When to book it during the trip
Couples usually choose one of two evenings. The first night lets you switch off at once, so that the rest of the trip starts rested. The last night marks the end of the break before the return to real life. If you are staying three nights or more, some couples book both, often with the same two therapists.
Parents also tend to be awake early. A late-morning session after a slow breakfast is a good option if evenings are for dinners you have been looking forward to for months.
Worrying about the children
It is normal to check the phone every hour on the first trip away. Before the session, call home, hear that everyone is fine, then put the phone in a drawer. Tell the grandparents you will be unreachable for ninety minutes. It is a small thing, but couples who do it say the session felt completely different from the ones where a phone lay face up on the bedside table.
Choosing the format and the length
Most parents choose a therapist each for ninety minutes. On the couple, two-therapist row it costs EUR 1,080; an hour costs EUR 720 and two hours EUR 1,440. If only one of you wants a session and the other would prefer a long bath and a book, one therapist for one guest is EUR 180 an hour. Rates are listed on every profile.
If you are booking before you travel, which many planning parents do, the booking is confirmed with half the fee. The same applies to any two-therapist booking and to your first booking with us, and it is paid through the WhatsApp conversation by card, Revolut, Wise or crypto. That payment is kept by the house if you cancel, so if you are unsure whether the trip will go ahead, wait until you have landed. If a sick child delays the flight and you ask more than 24 hours before the start, one move to another date within 14 days keeps the deposit in place.
Preparing the room
After years of packing for four, parents on their first trip alone tend to arrive with small bags, which makes a hotel room easy to clear. Leave both sides of the bed free, dim the lights and turn the heating up a little. Take a long shower without anyone knocking on the door. The couples massage at your hotel page covers the practical side if your hotel has a night door or a lift card.
Afterwards
Many parents say the thing they noticed most was the hour after the session: nobody needing anything, the room quiet, the evening free. Order food to the room, or go out for a late dessert. Or simply sleep until you wake up on your own, which for a lot of parents is the real luxury of the trip.
What to put in the message
The date, the time, the length, your area and the format. Our bookings are for adults aged 21 or more, each partner included. A note that it is your first trip away without them is welcome, and the pair will know to keep the evening unhurried.
